Kenshi Yonezu’s Spirits of the Sea was released in 2019 as the theme of a Japanese animated movie called Children of the Sea. As a keen listener of Yonezu, I came across his new track with a stunning, stunning music video. When I saw the art of the animation, I definitely checked out what movie this was from and added it to my watch list. That was last year…
The weather was really gloomy today so I was sleepy, sluggish and groggy the whole day. Rainy, foggy days are my favorite type of weather but they do come with side effects occasionally. It hit me pretty badly this time, probably because I haven’t had a good night’s sleep for some time and I think it’s now affecting my state in the day. I barely got any work done even though I made myself a schedule and had my laptop open the entire day. I honestly wished I just gave in and did what I wanted to do if I wasn’t going to be that productive anyway.
A few things I would've liked to do in that free time were:
-Take a nap
-Read a book
-Draw something
-Watch a movie (Children of the Sea!)
According to IMBb, the movie follows a young girl called Ruka who hangs out at the aquarium where her father works during the summer break. She meets a pair of mysterious brothers, who were “raised by dugongs”, and finds that she too has a special connection to the ocean. The three are drawn into a mystery involving the sea creatures all over the globe and the disappearance of aquarium animals around the world.
Another huge factor in my interest for this movie is that Joe Hisaishi, who I mentioned in my previous entry, also created the music scores for the movie.
Hopefully I’ll be able to check this movie out when I have more time! Other Yonezu favorites of mine are: Paper Flower, Uma to Shika, and Haiiro to Ao.
